The first challenge

Today is the first day of Melinda's Operation Organization challenge. For eight weeks starting today, we all pick an area of our homes that NEEDS some ORDER. We announce it on Friday (starting today) and then work thru the week to complete it. Pop on over using the button in the right sidebar to check out the rest of the details.

Now for my First Mission (yes I choose to accept it, I even created it!) HA!

First, I have to tell you, I love shoes. I wear mostly flip flops for casual wear, but like some variety with in the flip flops and I love dress shoes, especially little flirty ones! So I buy/own/hoard shoes!

Before I show you my "before" pics, you have to promise not to cringe. This is all about keeping it real and honest and trying to improve our lives.

With that said - This is my current organization system.

I know - embarrassing!

This is what happens when we are running late and I can't find matching shoes -

And I also have a bad habit of discarding my shoes wherever I walk into a room. (I have mentioned before - I am a barefoot kinda gal at home!)

So in addition to cleaning up this mess, I am also going to attempt to keep my shoes in one place in the house or put them away.

Of course - I do have help scattering my shoes -

And finally, proof that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree -

Come back next Friday to see how it turns out and what I've chosen for my next challenge.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I am glad I am not the only one with the messy desk. You and I must have a lot in common because my shoes all over the house as well...they usually don't make it to the bedroom. I kick them off as soon as I enter. Can't wait to see you progress.

ooooohhh, thanks for sharing this...I need to check it out...I am so unorganized right now and going back to school soon, I need to get on the ball.

I'm a shoe freak too! BUT I did manage to clean out my shoes a couple months ago and they all fit into one tote now. I'm a barefoot gal too so my shoes come off as soon as I walk in the door.=) Can't wait to see what you have done!

Sounds like a little change, but one you will appreciate every day. Good luck in your first challenge!

Good luck with your first challenge! I don't have this promise yet, because half of my shoes are still packed up in the attic. Can't wait to see pictures when you get done!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my site:)

Did you take those pictures in my closet? OMG I do the same things too!!! Love flip flops and they are all over my house. Hubby doesn't mind anymore he just goes around and picks up my trail. Yes, all my kids do it too:) Good for you for getting organized, I'll try that one day, I think?

Hi..thanks for stopping by my blog..
I love shoes too..but since young my mum nag & nag about keeping the shoes the moment we reach home..so this is not so much of an issue for me..until now..when my daughter started to walk..now I sometimes find a shoe under the table / sofa..haha..

Keep going...I always love how I feel when I am organized and tidy!!!

p.s. but then again there is something relaxing about flipping those shoes off and letting them land!

Shoes are problematic. I am always trying to find the perfect organizing system for them, so I'm anxious to see your "After" pictures! ;0)

I tackled my daughter's room and worked all day. It is almost done. I have a migraine from all the dust! lol

So glad you joined the challenge!

Just last week I bought 4 bins like the one in your closet to help with our shoe disaster. I had floor shoe racks in our coat closet but nobody would put their shoes on it but me. Shoes were just thrown in. So, I got the bins, labeled them, my boys are sharing one, and waalaa. Instant organization. Now, I just hope everyone throws their shoes into the correct bin.

Oh, it's okay, my problem is buying too many clothes for my kids. I have totes and totes full. Oops.

Is it possible to have a bunch of kids and be organized? Not in my house:) Well, only with GREAT energy, dedication, and a BIG Wall Calendar!

You wouldn't believe the numbers of pairs of shoes in this house. But only two pairs are mine!

I have tried to coral all my shoes, daughter's shoes and hubbies. It is not easy though. Hubbie wants a bin not to use the shelves which I dont like but at least we just throw his shoes there and they are a bit neater. Not as nice when they are all lined up on the shoe shelf but sometimes you just have to compromise.

I'm about to join the challenge too...and you just reminded me of another area I can organize! My closet floor looks a lot like yours--shoes galore! Good luck!

Looks like a challenge. Organizing is one of my least favorite things to do. I guess it's important to whistle while we work!

Funny!!! Good luck on the 'redo':)

I am the same way. Shoes everywhere because I love being barefoot in the apartment.
Good luck with your challenge!

I can't wait to see what you do with all your shoes. My girls and I are bad about scattering ours around the house, too. In fact, right now I can see two pairs under the kitchen table and another pair on the stairs. Sigh...

Just showing some SITSta love! Good luck with your challenge, and your daughter is so stinkin' cute! Look forward to seeing you around! Trudge on over and visit me! I'd love to have you!

Shoes can be kinda hard to keep organized...I have a shoe rack, but I'm running out of space so I started stacking shoes on top of each other.

Maybe I need to take this challenge too! :-)
