If you have followed my blog for the last few weeks, you know my 3 princesses all had birthdays very recently. I was at a loss when it came to birthday presents for Sha Sha (11) and NiNi(9). I finally convinced them to bypass the presents and to go for a bedroom remodel. We did a lot of de-cluttering too. I forgot to take before pics until in the midst of the de-cluttering process, so you will have to use your imaginations to some degree.
So, here's the before -
Walls were lavender with light pink canopies and baby pink quilts with fairies.
The futon and other stuff they willingly parted with.
Another view close up of their lavender walls.
The sick blue/purple desk that had peeling paint. We mixed the leftover lavender with some bright blue leftover from their brother's bedroom to get this color. I have never been happy with it in the last 6 years.
And now - Drumroll please.....
The after photos -
The walls have been called hot pink, Barbie pink, and hubby calls it Pepto-Bismol pink.
The new comforters and shams are reversible. Solid orange on one side and Pink with stripes on the other.
They each got a new memo board for things special to them. The tissue paper flowers were made for their birthday "fiesta".
The girls and I found these cute mirrors at a yard sale for $10 for the set. They also got new dressers.
Since we got rid of the futon, the girls now have 3 beanbags to crash/read in.
The other new dresser.
The desk painted "Home Depot" orange with 2 coats of polyurethane to help minimize chipping. That blue still showed thru on the back, but since it faces the wall, I'm not sweating it. We still want to do something with this chair. Any suggestions? I do have a LOT of orange paint left....
So, what do you think? Is this room fit to carry my darlings into their teen years?

Wow! That sure is a transformation! I bet they love it! xxx
What fun colors! I love the new look and I am sure they are thrilled. They have good taste, if I do say so myself!

HOW ABOUT ORANGE WITH PINK POLKA DOTS ON THE CHAIR?!
this is awesome! They have cute plush seat pillows at peir one, you should check them out! Hell Id live in that room! (my sister painted her room hot pink and got white and turquoise bed spreads, so cute!)
OMG!!!! I hav to say i simply love it!!! fantastic!
I love it! So bright and cheery!
Stopping over from SITS-enjoy your day!!!
I followed the sits link. I LOVE the transformation!! My suggestion for the chair is pink to match the walls, either plain pink or with stripes like the comforter or polka dots :)
I love the room. It's amazing how multi-talented a mom has to be. I think the pink is beautiful and the room is certainly more mature looking. Lucky girls!
Very nice! I'm hoping to do my daughters' room soon as well. My suggestion for the chair is paint it white and paint daisies on it to match the mirrors. Maybe only on the back - with one big orange daisy on the seat. :)
I'd go white on the chair and then coordinate the seat with the room colors. I remember I had a pair of magenta pants that I always wore with a magenta and "Home Depot" orange striped polo shirt. It was my favorite outfit when I was 13 -14. The thought makes my brain hurt a little now, but I'm not that age anymore. I would have loved that room.
What a stylish remodel! Lucky kiddos to have parents willing to go through the overhaul.
Excellent!!! I would walk into that room now and say, Wow!!!
Chair suggestion: sand lightly with 200 grit paper to take the shine off the varnish and paint the whole thing bright orange (since you have orange paint leftover anyway!). I'd add pink, yellow and white daisies on the back or stripe the legs pink and white or the polka dots are a great idea, too. But for sure, lose the 80's walnut stain! ;^)
Good job, Mom!!! ;^)
Wow- I am so impressed with the desk. From the first picture I thought "destined for the trash" but it looks bright and shiny with the new paint and polyurethane- great job!
I agree with kablooey- the chair would look nice in white with an orange/pink cushion.
Love this big girl's room! All those bright, fun colors...your girls must love, love it!
I love it I wish that I could paint walls ,but its just not worth it in the army.

A great transformation. Shows what you can do with what you have and make your home beautiful.
Way fun!!! I have zero decorating sense and all... job well done!
Now, that must have been a lot of work. Looks great!
Hi! I'm visiting from SITS. I have two girls, ages 15 and 16 and they'd love that room! They want to paint their whole houses those colors. They think my love of plum and green is so boring.
